Program
Summary:
Here
are a few examples of the illusions used in the program.
Before and during the show it is explained that all
the performances are just illusions and are not real.
Opening Illusion: The opening
illusion consists of an illusion that is used as an
icebreaker or introduction to the show.
2nd Introduction Illusion: This
illusion does not always have a Christian message behind
it. This illusion is usually used to get the audience
more comfortable with me and requires audience participation.
The illusion usually used for this is the Chinese Linking
Rings.
The story of the 3 Hebrew boys in
the fiery furnace: The story about Shadrach, Meshach
and Abednego is told. I explain in detail how King Nebuchadnezzar
summoned the three Hebrew boys to come see the king
and explain why they would not worship his idol. During
the story I reveal a metal pan and explain this is going
to be used as our fiery furnace. As the story goes on
the pan is set on fire (this is a controlled fire) and
the lid is put on. When the lid is taken off two pure
white doves appear unharmed just as the Bible explained
the 3 Hebrew boys came out of the furnace. Unharmed!
Stopping sin where it starts:
In this illusion I demonstrate how sometimes we may
sin in our head. Any action we do, rather it be walking
or talking, it all begins in the mind. We sometimes
think that nobody will hear our thoughts so therefore
it's not a sin. However, when we do think of things
that are wrong, or say things in our minds towards others
this is considered a sin. One example is bad words in
our mind towards others. I choose 3 people from the
audience and ask them to stay in their seats. I then
ask the first person picked to think of a person's name,
they think if the name and I write it down on a chalkboard.
I cover up my answer so it cannot be changed and then
I ask the person to tell me out loud what the person's
name was they were thinking about. I then ask the second
person to think of a place they would like to live.
I again write down my answer and then cover it up so
it cannot be changed. I then tell the 3rd person that
in a moment they are going to come up and cut a deck
of cards. The card they choose should match the card
I will write down on the chalkboard prior to them coming
up. I go on to tell the people that even though we think
that saying bad words in our minds or thinking of things
in our mind are not a sin, we have to remember that
Jesus knows what we are thinking before we think it,
when we think it, and after we think it. Now the answers
are revealed. I first uncover the 1st thought of the
first persons answer. Amazing enough the answer matches.
I uncover the 2nd and 3rd answer and they also match.
This is a great way to show people that God knows what
they are thinking at all times and that we have to STOP
SIN WHERE IT STARTS! In our minds.
Stopping sin where it starts Part 2: In this
illusion I continue to talk about sin and stopping sin
where it starts. This is a kick off to the 4th illusion.
In this illusion I have 3 people from the audience name
a sin. When they name a sin they get to hold a dyed
hank. As the participants hold the hanks I tell the
audience the scripture, ""Though your sins
are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though
they are red as crimson
.." Isaiah 1:18. I
go on to say that we need to talk to Jesus and tell
Him we need our sins washed away; and that when we do
this; our sins are cast into the sea of forgetfulness
"
.as far as the east is from the west, so
far has he removed our transgressions from us."
Psalm 103:12. Then a box of laundry detergent is revealed
and I explain that I will be using this as our spiritual
washing machine. The dyed hanks are placed in the box,
then the hanks come out pure white as and example that
God has forgave us of our sin. I proceed to ask the
audience how this illusion was done. After saying that
the dyed hanks are in the box still I explain that when
God says that your sins are washed away they are truly
washed away. But the only thing that tells us our sins
are not washed away is the devil. I then open the box
showing that there are no hanks left in the box and
that the box is not gimmicked. They are more than welcome
to examine the box at this point. What a powerful way
to show how God forgives us from our sins!
Raising Lazarus from the dead:
In this illusion I want to show an example of one of
the great miracles Jesus did for Lazarus. I start out
by telling the story of Lazarus and how he was a really
sick man. Once the disciples found out about Lazarus
being ill they told Jesus that they needed to go to
the city where Lazarus was and heal him. According to
the Bible Jesus was not in a great hurry to go and heal
Lazarus. I then explain that it may have been possible
that Jesus took his time because he wanted to show a
much greater miracle to the people. As days went on
the disciples kept reminding Jesus that Lazarus needed
healing. Jesus finally said to them that Lazarus was
dead. Then Jesus decided to go to the city where Lazarus
was and do a miracle. At that time I bring out a box
that would represent the tomb were Lazarus was buried.
I continue on to say that when Jesus went to the city
he met Martha there, Jesus then told Martha to go and
get Mary and bring her to him. When Mary got to Jesus
they went to the tomb were Lazarus was buried. Jesus
walked in to the tomb and told Lazarus to arise up and
walk. I stop there and refer back to the box used to
represent where Lazarus was buried. I take out a paper
rabbit and show the audience that it is not a live rabbit
and the place the rabbit in the box (the audience can
see in the box the whole time). I then blow up a balloon
that would represent the tombstone that covered where
Lazarus was buried. I place the balloon in the box and
on the count of 3 the balloon pops and a live rabbit
appears in place of the paper rabbit.
Other topics discussed:
- Being a new creature in Christ.
- Give and it will come back to you.
- How God is always there for us in
the time of need.
- Being attacked spiritually.
- And much more.
